1.Training Aim

The aim of this undergraduate student training program is to provide professional-level understanding of the basic theory, foundational knowledge, and fundamental technical skills of Chemistry so as to prepare students for careers in chemical and chemistry-related science and technology areas, including but not limited to scientific research, teaching, management, manufacturing, marketing, and commerce.

2.Training Requirements

The undergraduate student should study the foundational knowledge, basic theory, and basic skills and methods in the field of Chemistry. Additionally, the student should undergo general training in scientific thinking and scientific experiments and demonstrate an adequate level of ability to conduct scientific research, applied study, and management of science and technology.

The undergraduate should obtain the following knowledge and abilities:

1)to master the foundational theories and basic knowledge of mathematics, physics etc.;

2)to master the basic knowledge, foundational principles, and experimental skills of inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry (including structural chemistry), polymeric chemistry and physics, green chemistry, biological chemistry and chemical engineering;

3)to know the general principles and knowledge of similar majors;

4)to know the national laws and regulations about science and technology studies, the policy on chemistry-related industries, and intellectual property at home and abroad;

5)to know the theoretical frontiers, prospects for application, and the latest developments in the field of Chemistry and the status of development of chemistry-related industries;

6)to be able to comprehensively use a foreign language to use modern information technology for consulting Chinese and foreign data, retrieving documents, and accessing related information.. Moreover, the student should be able to employ their mastery of a foreign language for experimental design, understanding and inductively interpreting experimental conditions and results, processing and analyzing data, writing academic papers, as well as other forms of academic exchange.

3.Key Courses for the Major: inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry (including structural chemistry), polymeric chemistry and physics, green chemistry, biological chemistry and chemical engineering foundation.

4.Basic Educational System and Period of Study: four years; three ~ six years.
