Professor Hua Chen received his bachelor’s degree from Sichuan University in 1983 and his MSc and PhD degrees from Sichuan University respectively in 1994 and 1999. From 1999. 12 to 2000. 12, he engaged in postdoctoral research at Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University with professor Albert S C Chan. Professor Chen serves as Academic and Technical Leaders of Sichuan; director of Professor committee, College of Chemistry, Sichuan University; and was the director of Organic Teaching Department, College of Chemistry, Sichuan University; vice-president of College of Chemistry, Sichuan University; the director of Experiment Teaching Center, Sichuan University; Science and Technology Reward Evaluation Expert, Ministry of Education (2008-2009), and National Science and Technology Progress Evaluation Expert (2007).
Professor Chen’s research areas include the systheses of water-soluble trasition metal phosphine complexes and their application in aqueous/organic biphasic catalytic system, the application of chiral catalysts in asymmetric syntheses, green industry production of fine chemicals and petrochemical industry production, and C-C coupling reaction. The systheses of water-soluble rhodium phosphine complexes and their application in aqueous/organic biphasic hydroformylation have owned the independent knowledge authority of our country. The development new catalyst has showed great reaction activity and selectivity in hydroformylation, which has a crucial value in green chemitry research and is supported by National Key Basic Research Program of China.
Professor Chen has enjoyed an excellent academic career, with 10 Chinese patents granted, more than 120 SCI journal papers published, taking part in over 30 national and ministerial level research projects and winning First Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress of Sinopec Group and Second Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Professor Chen teaches the following courses for undergraduates, masters and doctors: Organic Chemistry, Fundamental Organic Chemistry Experiment, Organic Metal Coordination Catalysis and College Chemical Experiment. He is also the coauthor of several monographs and textbooks including绿色石化技术的科学与工程基础, Basic Organic Chemistry, Asymmetric Organic Chemistry, 石油炼制和基本有机化学品合成的绿色化学, Organic Chemistry Experiment, College Chemical Experiment, Mechanism and Application of Homogeneous Catalysis and so on.
